New Confidential Service For Sarbanes-Oxley Whistle-Blowers

The Chicago based HR management consulting firm ComPsych has announced the launch of a confidential service that allows employees of companies to anonymously report to top executives any accounting irregularities that violate Sec. 301 (4) Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance.
The service, called ConfidentialSource, lets employees report potential misconduct to a 24/7-phone center or through a secure Web site. Information disclosed is then relayed from ConfidentialSource to the appropriate corporate contact.
According to a ComPsych pole, 88 percent of employees in American firms are willing to report accounting misdeeds, but more than a third would prefer to do so anonymously.
Employees surveyed were asked the following question: “If you witnessed corporate or accounting misdeeds, would you report them?” Here’s a breakdown of the responses:

51 percent said: “Yes, I would report, regardless of who collects the information.”

37 percent said: “Yes, I would report, but only if a third party collected the information.”

11 percent said: “No, I would not report because I would still be worried about confidentiality/retribution.”

1 percent said: “No, I'm not interested in reporting against my company.”
