DHS Loses Another Cybersecurity Head

The revolving door of those responsible for the DHS’s cybersecurity division keeps on turning, as Robert Liscouski, the man in charge of the section, resigned from his position sometime last week.

In an article on eweek.com, Dennis Fisher says Liscouski, formerly the assistant secretary of the Information Assurance and Infrastructure Protection directorate at the DHS (which includes the National Cyber Security Division), has left the post to move to the private sector.

Liscouski’s departure is just the latest in a series of such moves from within the NCSD. As reported in the Continuity e-Guide last October, Amit Yoran, the director of the NCSD, resigned last fall amid reports that he was growing frustrated with his level of authority and ability to get things done within the division.

Fisher says Liscouski joined the DHS of the Coca-Cola Co. and was handed the task of shoring up the country's critical infrastructure. In a written statement, outgoing DHS Secretary Tom Ridge said Liscouski served the department and the country well.

"Bob Liscouski accepted the call to serve as the department's first assistant secretary for Infrastructure Protection and he has served our nation well. His leadership has provided a solid foundation for protecting our nation's critical infrastructure, and this department will benefit from his efforts for years to come," Ridge said.
