ORGANIZATION SPOTLIGHT
Southeastern Continuity Planners Association (SCPA)
SCPA is an informal professional association made up of business continuity
professionals, public sector emergency management professionals, and vendor
professionals catering to the business continuity field. Our purpose is
to provide a forum for training, networking, and the exchange of ideas
and information. We meet on a quarterly basis, usually the second Thursday
of the middle month of each quarter at one of our member locations, usually
in the Atlanta metropolitan area. We have no dues. We welcome all who

National Earthquake Forum Strengthening
America: Preparing for Earthquakes and More
September 26-30, 2004

This event will provide a national forum for dialog among earthquake professionals,
government and businesses to reduce social and economic losses from earthquakes.

The organizing committee has prepared a survey to better understand the
needs and concerns regarding earthquakes of disaster recovery and business

Association of Contingency Planners &
PRISM International to Hold Joint Conference in December 2004
The Board of Directors of the Association of Contingency Planners, (ACP,)
and the Board of Directors of Professional Records and Information Services
Management International (PRISM) have agreed to jointly host a conference
on December 9-11 in New Orleans.
Main features of the conference will include
a joint opening keynote session with Jane Boucher, author of "How to Love
the Job You Hate," joint receptions, a joint trade show area, and an opportunity
for the two associations to network individually and across organizations.
In addition, the conference will feature a number
of facility tours relating to both planning for emergency response and
business continuity and commercial information management.
The Association of Contingency Planners is the
largest international professional association for business continuity
planners as well as related professions such as crisis management, emergency
management, all arenas of disaster recover planning, and any other interested
fields. Founded in 1984, ACP has over 1500 members and 23 chapters.

PRISM International is a trade association serving
commercial information management facilities which include commercial
records facilities, secure media vaults, electronic vaulting and data
repositories, imaging services companies and confidential destruction
companies.

State of Missouri News
The State of Missouri has received a Federal Declaration of Disaster for
recent storms. This is FEMA_DR1524-DR Severe Storms, Tornadoes and Flooding
The Missouri Voluntary Organizations Active in
Disaster(MOVOAD) and Disaster Recovery Partnership have convened by conference
call four times in the past four weeks and once in a face to face meeting
at SEMA.
Assistance to families and individuals has been
coordinated before and during the declaration (the Federal declaration
came two weeks after some of the initial severe weather). MOVOAD and Partnership
agencies are standing by to allow Federal Individual Assistance programs
to run their course before assessing long-term unmet needs cases. Long-term
recovery committess will be established or activated if necessary.

Former New York City OEM Director Named to Lead Corporate Emergency Access System (CEAS) For BNet
New York, NY - Peter R. Picarillo, the former director and founder of
the Public-Private Initiatives group for the New York City Office of Emergency
Management (OEM) and a retired New York City Police Sergeant has been
named as the first ever Corporate Emergency Access System (CEAS) Managing
Director for the Business Network of Emergency Resources, Inc. (BNet).
In this capacity, Mr. Picarillo will work to develop CEAS programs in
states and cities around the country in coordination with emergency management

Association of Sacramento Area Planners
Meetings of the Association of Sacramento Area Planners are held the second
Wednesday of each month at 9:00 A.M. at Vision Services Plan (VSP) 3333
Quality Drive, Rancho Cordova, California. VSP provides us with a comfortable
meeting room that is large enough for our group and the necessary presentation
equipment.
