MADRA'S 45th Quarterly Meeting On May
27
Please join the Mid Atlantic Disaster Recovery Association's 45th quarterly
meeting, Thursday, May 27, 2004, at the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute
Training Academy, 4500 Paint Branch Parkway, College Park MD 20743.
James Karl, Global Account Executive for Iron Mountain is going to spin
us a tale about the "The Perfect Storm", like the movie where climatic
events have come together to produce a profound impact. The scary events
are not weather-related but are information-related: 9/11; Homeland Security's
formation; numerous regulations being issued; cyber attacks; legalities
of email; and reduced budgets have all hit us and have affected greatly
how we keep and maintain records. James will discuss these events, their
impact to our record keeping, the need for a records management program,
and some practical experience that relates what to do and what not to
do.
The 2nd presentation entitled "The BCP Universe: From the Macro View
to the Paper View " is by Lee Strickland, the Director of the Center for
Information Policy at the College of Information Studies, University of
Maryland, and Stephen Hannestad, retired senior official with the National
Archives and Records Administration. Visit www.madra.org
for more information.
