More British Companies Consider BC Standard The BS 25999 standard for business continuity was only published in November, but a new poll suggests British firms are getting behind the standard, as 60 percent say they are considering certification. In an article on ComputerWeekly.com, Antony Savvas says the poll, done by organizers of the upcoming Business Continuity Expo 2008, could bring BC planning and management right to the top of the corporate agenda. “It would seem that at last companies are taking business continuity seriously, and investing in a framework to ensure that they have structures in place so that if a crisis hits they are prepared for it,” Paul Lanham, global marketing manager at certification organisation BSI Management Systems, told Savvas. Lanham also said many organizations are using the standard and evaluating certification against it to gain competitive advantage, while others are using it as a management and assurance tool in their supply chain.
