According to an article on the Computerworld Australia website, the new survey from Mitel, an IP communications company, found that 68 percent of those surveyed say they're ill-prepared, even though the number of UK firms with BC plans in place has nearly tripled in the past six years. Thirty-two percent of the companies surveyed said they would be prepared to take an even bigger hit on profits by giving staff the day off if they were unable to access the office. More than one quarter (26 percent) said they would try to rely on cell phones to keep businesses up and running, pointing to a real lack of planning in the telecom area. However, the study also found 66 percent of larger companies, with a turnover of more than £20 million, say they could resume operations within 24 hours.
