Giuliani: World Economy Can Survive Attack

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani says he believes another terror attack on the scale of September 11 would be disastrous, but believes the world economy will be able to withstand and survive.

Associated Press Business Writer Kelly Olsen is reporting that Giuliani made the remarks last week in Seoul, South Korea, at an international financial conference organized by the Financial Times newspaper.

“New York survived September 11, America survived September 11, the world did,” Giuliani told reporters at the event. “It’s not something that you hope happens but if it did, I would think America, New York, the world economy would survive that also. We’re much stronger than we think we are.”

But that doesn’t mean Giuliani thinks recovering from another attack will be easy, Olsen says. “If it were to happen again, it would be catastrophic,” Giuliani said. “Just given the fact that you learn from prior things that happen it probably would be handled better, if you can handle something like that better. The impact of it is just beyond anyone.”
