American Society of Civil Engineering

Founded in 1852, the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) represents more than 137,500 members of the civil engineering profession worldwide, and is America's oldest national engineering society. American Public Works Association
The American Public Works Association is an international educational and professional association of public agencies, private sector companies, and individuals dedicated to providing high quality public works goods and services. Originally chartered in 1937, APWA is the largest and oldest organization of its kind in the world, with headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, an office in Washington, D.C., and 67 chapters throughout North America. APWA provides a forum in which public works professionals can exchange ideas, improve professional competency, increase the performance of their agencies and companies, and bring important public works-related topics to public attention in local, state and federal arenas. Property Loss Research Bureau
In the true sense of a trade association, the purpose of PLRB is to offer members those products and services that can be provided more efficiently or economically than they can generate for themselves. More specifically, as stated in its Bylaws, the purposes and objectives of the Property Loss Research Bureau are to concern itself with, and encourage productivity and efficiency in the property and liability loss and claim adjustment processes of members and the industry as a whole, to disseminate information on property and liability issues among members and within the insurance industry; and to promote education and new and beneficial developments within the property and casualty insurance industry. www.plrb.org
ASDSO Awards Annual Dam Safety Scholarships
Since 1992, the Association of State Dam Safety Officials has awarded up to
$5,000 to outstanding undergraduates who plan to enter the dam safety profession. ASDSO is pleased to announce the winners of its 2005-2006 Dam Safety Scholarships for Senior Undergraduates. This year's recipients, Theresa L. Andrejack (Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA) and Keith M. Thole (Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, IL), were chosen from a field of 29 well-qualified applicants representing universities across the United States. NAEMSP's Mission Statement
The National Association of EMS Physicians is an organization of physicians
and other professionals partnering to provide leadership and foster excellence
in out of hospital emergency medical services.
Since its inception in 1984, the NAEMSP membership has grown from a handful
of dedicated founders to over 1,100 physicians, paramedics, nurses, administrators,
educators, researchers and key EMS personnel. The membership continues
to increase as the NAEMSP represents the out-of-hospital emergency medical
care community. As part of its ongoing commitment to improving out-of-hospital
emergency medical care, the NAEMSP promotes meetings, publications and
products that connect, serve and educate its members. In addition, the
Association acts as a resource and advocate of EMS related decisions in
cooperation with organizations throughout the country and the community

DERA - The Disaster Preparedness
and Emergency Response Association
DERA was founded in 1962 to assist communities with disaster preparedness,
hazard mitigation, emergency response-recovery, and to serve as a worldwide
professional association linking professionals, volunteers, and organizations
active in all phases of emergency management. It currently has active
members around the world, representing nongovernmental relief organizations
(NGOs), national governments, non-profit associations, local agencies
and departments, educational institutions, corporations, small business
concerns, emergency management professionals, researchers, students and
