Mobile Banking Solution Proven Successful Pascagoula, MS — In the wake of the recent hurricanes, Katrina and Rita, Rentsys Recovery Services ensured the continuity of several business operations in the Gulf area. Rentsys provided a range of services to those businesses that found themselves unable to carry on their day-to-day operations due to the devastation. Each recovery was custom designed specifically with the clients’ needs in mind. In Pascagoula, Mississippi, a branch of the First Bank was devastated with water and wind damage. The building was uninhabitable due to the amount of water that surrounded the building. Rentsys deployed a Mobile Recovery Center with a Mobile Banking configuration, to allow the First Bank branch to continue servicing the people of Pascagoula. An armored truck, with currency, was brought in everyday from the First Bank headquarters in Hattiesburg, MS to supply the bank funds. The Mobile Banking Center provided financial access to First’s banking customers and allowed the people to get their life back together, by getting the funds that they desperately needed in a time of rebuilding from the destruction. Ellen Cole, President of the First Bank Branch, said, “The Mobile Banking Center helped us to establish business as normal as possible. We tried to operate out of our lobby, but we had no privacy, and it was too loud from the ongoing construction. The mobile bank felt more normal.” Nearly all of the First Bank employees in Pascagoula suffered damages to their homes. Locations sitting sixteen feet above sea level, still recorded over three feet of water. The first three blocks of the Pascagoula coastline was completely destroyed. The Mobile Banking Center provided a work environment that gave sound footing, and peace of mind to employees that had just lost a lot more than just their workspace. This hurricane season has gotten the attention of both the Gulf and Atlantic areas. It’s a time when worst-case scenarios are becoming a reality. As stated by Cole, “Banks on the coast need these Mobile Banking units.” The need for these units, as Cole states, was again proven when Rentsys deployed another Mobile Bank unit in Florida, due to Hurricane Wilma last week. The Rentsys Mobile Bank configuration is set up to provide customers with the look and feel of a traditional bank branch. Each unit can be configured with the desired amount of teller stations, office spaces, administrative areas, conference rooms and vault space. Security cameras and alarm systems are installed to ensure the safety of employees and customers. The features of the Mobile Bank unit give the bank the tools they need to run their branch successfully.
