Nina Johnson is Executive Director for Institute of Emergency Training. She has been active in emergency response training for over 20 years. Served as a Board member with BICEPP (Business & Industry Council for Emergency Planning and Preparedness) for 9 years. Ms. Johnson designed and produced the first BICEPP ERT/CERT Challenge. This challenge received local and state awards, along with national recognition in the support of Emergency Response Teams. Ms. Johnson also served on the development team for SEMS LA, a curriculum development team for training on the Standardized Emergency Management System (ICS) from 1997. Ms. Johnson served on the secondary review committee for the revision of the Hospital Incident Command System 2005. She has developed several nationwide systems for Public Health and Hospitals, including the Bed Expansion/Tracking tool for use in Alternate Care Sites.

Ms. Johnson has also specialized in Mass Casualty, Bomb Threat Management and Patient Surge Management for hospitals nationwide for twenty years. She continues to conduct training for Exercise development and implementation. . Has served on Los Angeles County Exercise development team from 1998-2006. Ms. Johnson has developed, established and trained city-wide Emergency Operations Centers.

Ms. Johnson created and established one of the first multi-building large scale Disaster Simulation facility from a former elementary school. The seven-acre real-to-life training academy provided training for Law Enforcement agencies, including teams from Brazil, hospital hazmat teams, Fire and EMS. The Institute continues to provide a variety of workshops tailored to the evolving needs of today’s industry, which include some of the following; exercise design and implementation, educational programs on disaster & rescue scene management, development of crisis response teams, disaster planning and COOP implementation and activation, along with traumatic stress management programs, terrorism, biological/chemical response, hostage scenarios and negotiations. Patient accountability, tracking and evacuation, hospital triage & treatment set up and alternate care site setup and operations.. Additional training programs include HSEEP implementation and guidelines, Emergency Operations Center activation and implementation; Command Presence & Leadership, Linguistics Skills in Stressful Times, Violence in the Workplace and Exercise Conception, Design and Orchestration.
